Citizenship can be defined as a recognition by a country of those members who has been accepted as it's members it is a special state granted by a country to its members
MODE OF A ACQUIRING NIGERIAN CITIZENSHIP
1. By birth:this is a type of citizenship acquired through nature or by law
Type of citizenship by birth
I. By the virtue of blood: this is a acquired by a person based on the state of members of his parents, regardless of whether or not born within the territory of the state
ii. By the virtue of place:this is another type of a citizenship by birth granted to a person because the person is also born in that state
2. Citizenship by nationalization: this is a type of citizenship that us acquired by a person by law
Type of citizenship by nationalization
i. Directive nationalization: this is type of citizenship granted by a state to a person or alliance who hard agreed to voluntary renounce the citizenship of his formal country to become citizen of another state
ii. Derivative nationalization: this is the type of nationalization that is acquired through registration. It is given to foreign ladies who are married to a Nigerian man,the full rights of Nigerian citizenship
iii. Collective nationalization: This is type of nationalization that is usually acquired in a new territory by the inhabitants of the state. The leading of a territory by one state to another is usually by referendum.
3. Citizenship by conferment: this is given by the head of state to a foreigner in the recognition and appreciation of of his role he has played or he is still playing in promoting the interest of the state.
4. Citizenship by conquest: when one state conquered another automatically it becomes citizenship of a conquered state.
WITHDRAWAL OF NIGERIAN CITIZENSHIP
1. The president of the F.B.N may define a person order than a person who is a citizen of Nigeria by birth or by registration of his citizenship if his is satisfied that such a person has within a period of seven years after becoming naturalize be sentenced to imprisonment for a term not less than three years
2. A Nigeria citizen may forfeit its citizenship if within 12 months of attaining the age of 21 years .it does not renounce citizenship or nationality of any other country which he possess
3. If a Nigeria citizen acquire or retain citizenship of another country other than Nigeria. This is to ensure that Nigeria citizen do not pay alliance to another country.
RIGHT AND OBLIGATION OF NIGERIA CITIZEN
Right is defined as a reasonable claim of freedom Andis a claim recognized by society. According to Akin perceive right in terms of those conditions of social life without which no man can seen himself. It is a reasonable claim of freedom in exercise of certain activities
Characteristics of rights
1. Universality: Right is not limited to any particular citizens or groups of citizens. It is meant to enjoyed equally by all the citizen or people of a given society.
2. Dynamism: what constitute right at any point in time in the society may not be necessary regarded at another time, in others words right change in tune with the changing social,economic,political condition of the society.
3. Recognition by society or community: this means that right has to be enjoyed by individual in the society or community as defined and prescribed by the society.
4. Social:right exist in assume meaning contest of society or social life, as individual leaves and receives assistance from each other and respect each other.
Reasonable or morality:that is to say that right must agree with the moral values of the society.

3. Moral rights
NATURAL RIGHT: this type of right is perceived as that which is given to man by nature, some people still see it as a human and social proclamation
LEGAL RIGHT: this is right recognized and enforced by the law or the power of the state.
Example of fundamental human right include:
1. Right to life
2. Right to fair hearing
3. Right to private and family life
4. Right to dignity of human peace
5. Right to peaceful assembly
6. Right to personal liberty
7. Right to freedom of expression and press
ii: CIVIL RIGHT:This are those right which enable individual to leave a decent and worthy life in the society.

2. Right to freedom to worship
3. Right to freedom of thought
4. Right to use of social amenities provided by the government
Political right: this are right related to government power or politics EXAMPLE includes:
1. Right to contest of election
2. Right to vote and be voted for
3. Right to participate in political affairs of the state through political appointment
4. Right to petition and complain
5. Right to form and identify with political parties
Economic right: this are right confirmed by individual by law of state for the purpose of promoting their economic development of the state
Moral rights: right which claimable by the virtue of concent example
